POST GRADUATE DIPLOMAS (PGD)

The Virtual University of Pakistan offers variety of Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) Programs. The programs have mainly been designed for candidates who have previously earned their Bachelor degrees like BA/B.Sc. and intend to earn a professional degree at Master’s level but either they have fears of failure in mind or want to test their abilities to cope with difficulties they may face during Master Degree.  The PGD programs provide a safe way-in to such candidates.  Furthermore, PGD programs are useful for those who wish to learn basic knowledge of an unexplored field so that they may polish their skills for professional growth in their career.

Note: Upon successful completion of Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) Program, candidates will be eligible to apply for respective Master Degree Programs, wherein applicable.

Admission Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university/institute in any discipline with at least 45% marks or CGPA 2.00 out of 4, as applicable.

Candidates having less than 45% marks will be eligible for admission after successful completion of “Zero Semester”.

Duration

All PGD Programs are minimum one-year study programs spread over two semesters. Each semester has at least 18 weeks duration for teaching and examinations etc.

Assessment of Study Progress

The students’ study progress evaluation mechanism is based on continuous assessment throughout the semester by giving assignments, on-line quizzes, Graded Moderated Discussion Boards (GMDBs), mid-term and final-term exams. The mid and final term exams are conducted at VU’s designated exam centers and usually count for 80 to 85% of the total marks for a course.

Award of Diploma

To be eligible for the award of Post Graduate Diploma, a student is required to earn prescribed number of credit hours with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00 out of 4.
